In accordance with Patanjali’s Yogic Sutra’s, the eight limbs of yogic practice are:

  1. Yama - universal mortality
  2. Niyama - personal observances
  3. Asanas - embodiment of energy: body postures
  4. Pranayama - control of breath
  5. Pratyahara - control of the senses: senselessness
  6. Dharana - concentration
  7. Dhyana - devotion and meditation
  8. Samadhi - nirvana: union with the divine
